Meaning: When everything is taken into consideration; said before you give the most important fact of a situation.
全てを考慮した上で、その状況の最も重要な要素に触れる前に言う言葉。
How to use: I know you'll do better next time. You'll learn from this, but at the end of the day, it's the board's decision.
次回はあなたももっとうまくやるだろうと思うし、あなたはこれによって学びがあるだろう。しかし、結局のところは理事会が決めることだ。
直訳では「一日の終わりに」となりますが、イディオムとしては、いろいろと考慮してみた上で結局のところ、という意味になります。一日がかりで考慮したという、大げさな例えでしょうか。
