Live in hope
To be optimistic about something.
ものごとに楽観的であること。
" I started swimming once a week to try to lose weight. However, after the
exercise, I can't resist a cheeseburger lunch ! I live in hope."
私は体重を減らすために、週一回スイミングを始めた。しかし、運動の後、チーズバーガーのランチが我慢できない！しかし、いつか体重が減ってほしいと願っている。
in hope that ・・・や in hope of ・・・ には、・・・を期待している、という意味があります。
live in hope とは、望みがいつかかなうと良い、と願うことをいいます。
live in hope of ・・・ や live in the hope that ・・・ で、・・・ という希望を抱いて生きる、となります。
hope は、複数形 hopes とする時もあります。
