Hang around 

To loiter, but with almost none of the negative connotation; may be used to casually substitute "stay," or to talk about spending time with someone; it may suggest no particular aim. 

ぶらぶら歩く、道草を食うということですが、否定的な意味合いは、ほぼ含まれていません。単に"stay" (居る、居残る) の代わりや、誰かと一緒に時間を過ごすことに使われますが、その行動に特にはっきりした目的がない、ということを指しています。

I didn't do much at the weekend, just hung around my apartment and watched movies.
私は週末、特別になにかをしません。ただ、自分のアパートにいて、映画を見ています。
